Valentino fall 2013 RTW

Valentino fall 2013

Valentino, symbol of a timeless italian elegance, presented its fall collection, worthy of the greatest paintings from Vermeer. An austere silhouette, beautiful in the simplicity and relinquishment. Pointed collars with white lace, sometimes pearled, rythm the show. The first silhouettes present short dresses, very simple and plain. Then, floral patterns appear, the same as those on paintings and tapestries of the XVIth century. Straight coats are composed by a hood and opened behind just as the ones friars wore at that time. Thou the two designers add a modern touch. The handles become long and large and some ponchos are asymmetric. Patterns on the bags are the same that those of the spring couture collection, arabesques in relief. Some royal looks appear with ermine coats or combines of fabrics between purple velvet and ermine. Lines are straight and simple. We really realise of the quality of the fabrics and of the work made when we observe these off-white coats… very simple pearl necklaces are wore just at the bottom of the collars, that let us enter in a classic atmosphere. Some dresses are pleated and that gives a wave movement. Neck openings are very large. The Valentino woman looks very natural this winter and feels herself. For the evening, patterns made of velvet brocade are glittering, we also see some dresses in silk reembroided with fine lace and a reproduction game with floral brocades , now printed on silk. Sometimes, the top of the dress is in lace and large straps in white silk hold dresses. Amazing private collection that is well illustrating that the haute couture savoir faire can be applied on ready-to-wear. I hope going to the next shows!
